Window Management

Workspaces

Snapshot your current window layout as a named workspace, then restore it any time with one click — even if the apps were closed. Workspaces relaunches missing apps, positions every window to its saved frame, and gets you back to work in seconds.

Requirements

  • Accessibility permission — required to read and set window positions on other applications.

Saving a Workspace

  1. Arrange your windows the way you want them.
  2. Open ProToys → Workspaces and click Save Current Layout.
  3. Give it a name.

For each open window, Workspaces remembers which app it belongs to, the window's title, and where it was on screen. You can save as many named workspaces as you want.

Restoring a Workspace

  1. Open ProToys → Workspaces.
  2. Click Restore next to the one you want.

Workspaces opens any apps that aren't already running, brings the others to the front, and moves each window back to where it was. It usually takes a second or two depending on how many apps need to launch.

Tip

You'll see a "Restoring…" indicator while it works. Don't close ProToys until it finishes.

Managing Workspaces

From the Workspaces panel you can:

  • Rename an existing workspace.
  • Delete a workspace you no longer need.
  • Save a new layout on top of an existing workspace (overwrites it).
